Khao Kluk Kapi

Haven't done much this week apart from watching movies and eating, this has mostly do with the fact that my money situation is quite bad since I have still not received my new ATM card from Finland. Hence, I tried to open a thai bank account today which was a no-go as well. Need a work permit for that even though I've heard from several people that they've succeeded opening one with just telling some bullshit about how they are still waiting for it. Gotta try another bank another day then.

Been watching Sherlock Holmes the Tv serie from 2010 it's surprisingly good. Each episode is basically like a own movie since they are 90mins each. Starting with season 3 today. Today I also found out my new favorite thai dish, Khao Kluk Kapi.

A plate of khao kluk kapi begins with rice, and it’s not just steamed rice, but the rice is stir fried with shrimp paste to give it a slightly, yet not overpowering, shrimp aroma – that’s what gives the dish its signature flavor.

On top of the shrimp flavored rice are a variety of toppings which normally includes green mango, omelet, red onions, dried shrimp, sweet pork, chinese sausage, chillies, cucumbers, long beans, and some cilantro and green onions on top. The diversity of the ingredients gives khao kluk kapi an incredible spectrum of flavors that all work well together.

The problem with this dish is that it's extremely hard to find anywhere, usually only sold in markets where they've already put it together so you can just grab it and go for the extremely high price of 40 baht (less than 1 euro). There are a few restaurants where you can find this but it's not like, say khao pad moo or pad thai gai which every street vendor, restaurant etc has. 

The rest of the week I'm not planning to do much, gonna visit a friends new tattoo shop at Surin beach he bought recently and mostly just chill. Might be good for my overall health and my liver to stay away from the bottle a while. Tomorrow I might hunt a new bank and try my chances at opening a thai account and afterwards maybe some beach action as I'm starting to get pale as I've been doing everything I can lately to avoid the sun. It's nice and awesome the first month or so with the beaches and the sun but you get really tired of it really fast, especially if you aren't that much of a beach person to begin with. 

In other news, I miss some food from back home, namely bread and cheese. Don't think there's a single thai dish where cheese is being used and bread is something you never see, except if you find the only bakery in a 20km radius or buy that shitty bread from 7-11 which can hardly be called bread.

And lastly, there was some thing going last week where everyone was giving the buddha drinks as he apparently gets thirsty once in a while so I did the same thing.

So today, I was going to the office which was apparently closed (they seem to change hours every week). Then I called Ida, I thought I was a good friend with her and everything was fine. I called her like sup, (i was totally sober) and asked what she is doing, she sounded positively surprised, unsure why, asked her if we could see somewhere down the street as I just wanted clear all the rumours about me. She was surprisingly hesitant and had other plans and just leaving and whatnot, told her I could be there in literally 1 minute.

The call ended. 3 minutes later I get a call from Andreas Caudwell telling me if I ever again try to make any contact with any of his employees I would have to regret it, like our first call, he didn't let me speak after he hanged up.

Sent him an SMS telling that I just wanted to tell people that I've sorted out everything with, well, everything and I won't contact him again.

Unsure if it is OK for his employees to contact me like they have been doing for the past 3 months, I can't really affect that.

It's been crazy since, I've cleared everything with authorities and life is good again, plus I'm still unemployent which is a good thing here :D Had a good friend from Kuwait move in below me to the 2nd floor. Having such awesome days at the moment, can't even go in to details now but since 4 am. SHIT. MAN. WTF. its noon now and im just updating briefly on my feeling right now, peace out.

Been a while

Decided to write something here since it has been a while, I'm living in Thailand now and it has been crazy to put it mildly. Came here the 1st December, stayed in Bangkok for some days - you know, just relaxing - then I moved towards Hua Hin where my Grandfather has been residing for the past 20 years or so. Hadn't seem him in 15 years or so thought it was about time. Sure the old man had gotten older and all that but it was a nice reunion.

Took a bus to Phuket after spending a few days in Hua Hin and it was the longest trip of my life due to shitty roads and well, 10 hours. Had a job there at EBS care center, pay was shitty but it was my entry card to Thailand so why the fuck not. Long hours, 15:00-01:00 and you get paid like 30000 baht a month which is shit compared back home but its okayish here considering the average gets like 8000 baht a month. So this all back in December. Had my daily routine, went to work, had a beer or ten after work and work the next day and weekends were chaos obviously.

Everything was fine until late January when I had a small accident with a broken glass bottle cut my foot in half in the sea. A hospital trip and some stitches later i was almost like a new man except I was a cripple temporarily. A week sick leave from work and back the next week on monday, things were good except I noticed I also had some nerve damage on my foot, my left leg (the damaged leg) would numb after a few minutes sitting down, hadn't really been sitting since the accident, mostly laying down. Told about this to my boss.

After work I went to meet with my friendl here, just had a few beers and whatnot. Was going back home at 04:00 or so. Was 200 meters away from my apartment and some thaiguy is signaling that he is going right (remember left traffic here) so I pass him on the left obviously, before I know it he suddenly takes a 180 turn and parks on the left, which means we hit each other. The consequences weren't that bad, just had some scratches and the bikes were good as well. Problems started when a random thailady comes there and claims I destroyed her food cart which was more than fine, it might have a small dent somewhere but that's it. So the situation was all in all good, could've just continued like it wasn't shit and it wasn't shit. So me being me I tell her more of less to fuck off and that I'm not paying her 50000 baht which she insisted I should. She threatens me with the cops, I tell her I'd rather a cop here since they will most likely only fine with 2000 baht or something.

So the cops arrive, he is cool as fuck, checks the "accident site" and is like, there is nothing here but they need to take me to the police station. We get there and I get like 8 different cops coming to me saying "you want to fix this now, pay me money you go" and I tell them politely that I don't have any money on me as I lost my ATM card a while ago (my mother sent me a new card actually yesterday, should be here in one week) so I've been borrowing money from people and I didn't happen to have any money on me then so I basically just told them to do whatever the fuck they need to do. After being through 7 different officers and a lot of bullshit I didn't understand I told the cops I need to go to a hospital and clean my scratches as I dislike random infections. So a cop takes me there, they take x-rays and the whole nine yards. They are waiting for some shit so I decided to limp outside for a smoke and then it hit me. I could just take a fucking taxi now and run away from all this shit as they only had my Swedish ID card which has no fucking use to me as I still have my Finnish passport which has my Visa etc.

I jump on the taxi, get home, shook up as fuck. Call my boss tell her the situation, she seems initially cool with it. My only worry right now is that the cops still have my bike which I really can't get even though a screwdriver seems to be a good enough key for that horse. They put a tirelock on those. That's not a problem, it'll get sorted. Called a thaifriend, did some valium, slept for 16 hours. Woke up at 04:00 this morning. (its 10:37 in thailand now) Went out to just get some fresh air, everything went fine. Had a few beers etc, nothing interesting really happened. Got to my place, my friend another friend who was carrying kilos of death sentences on him, consumed some of that shit and now I'm feeling alright but I think I've might lost job as I've had 2 missed calls from my Boss and even from her Boss from yesterday when I was passed out on painkillers and valiums.

So this is how it is going here, I really don't care about the job right now, I have plenty of other incomes and to me job has been mostly a social thing, things get awry pretty quick if you have no routines in life. Only thing I will miss are the people from work, met some really nice people there. Might be a good idea now to chill a bit and get shit back on track (namely my body, my feet and my ribs).

Life's good. Was up to 89kg or so, cutted down some, now I'm at 83kg or so. Not sure whether to cut or bulk, summer is coming so would like to look somewhat ok at least and not like a permabulk hamplanet :S Slept bad last night :( time for work now, bai.

I say

Feels like I there's no time to write anything nowadays. My typical day goes something like this, wake up at 7:30, breakfast shower etc. Leave for work at 8:30. 08:45 at work. Leave from work at 17:00, home at 17:15. Then eat/drink shake, shower, chill for a bit. Leave for gym at 19:00ish, 20:00 leave from gym, go grocery shopping. Home at 20:30, cook a proper meal and lunch for next day at work. Eat again. By now the clock is usually around 21:30. 2 hours to do whatever is needed and then bed. FML.

Really tired of my job at the moment and life in general, not depressed or anything, just tired/stressed. That being said, things are pretty OK regardless.

In other news, thinking of switching to a 3day split, mostly because of the reason that my legs get no rest. I bicycle 10km's a day ATLEAST and when im doing dealift on one pass and squats on the next, there's basically no room for rest for the legs, ever.

Got nothing to do at work, again so decided to update this. Went to gym on sat and sun so yesterday was dedicated to rest. Things seem to be back to normal now again. Was on my way to buy some groceries yesterday for a whooping 6 euros since I'm quite broke at the moment, salary tomorrow hooray. Anyway, it was a bit cold outside in the evening so decided to take my fall/winter coat and found a full box of snus in the pockets and 40 euros, w00t, was almost like winning the lottery. Right now I'm watching breaking bad s03 at work and writing this, just to give you an idea how much there's going on at work at the moment.

My grandma is coming from gothenburg today and will bring me some snus, hooray. Can't think of anything else right now. Bye!

basic everyday

I'm out of snus and out of proper food and money until next salary, I MIGHT HAVE SPENT A BIT TOO MUCH DURING MY BINGE.. *cough* VACATION. Well, I got some money but can't afford any luxury until next week. Almost skipped gym today but then I thought "no excuses" and just did it(pic related). Gym was really good today, realized for the 56th time that there's no point in doing BB bench press if you're alone and got no spotter, thus I did DB which was great success. Were at the gym just before closing time for the first time and it was quite nice, only 2 persons in addition to me. Makes the pass so much more smoother when you don't have to queue for Squat racks and whatnot compared to the after work rush where you basically have to stand in queue just to get inside, well almost.

Work has also been pretty chill, there's not much to do at the office so it's mostly just browsing random web pages and checking that my chars are macroing in ultima online. Also free coffee. Won't ramble too much as it is already past my bedtime and I still need to feed my face with food. GOOD NIGHT.

woop woop

Did some cardio yesterday in form of just bicycling around the city, around 10kmish. My legs were still sore from fridays squatting and calf raising but was NP. They were still sore this morning but had to hit the gym regardless. Woke up for the first time around 06:30 and decided fuck this, it's too early since I had only slept like ~5 hours so I went back to bed and woke up at 13:30 <_<. This pass is quite heavy on the back, after deadlift and rows I didnt have any juice left in me and just couldn't finish the pullups. I suppose I should start a bit easier. Don't have much else to write today, it's been a pretty boring weekend, mostly because I chose that. Plan is to cut down on drinking a lot(atleast for some time), since my summer vacation was pretty much only binge drinking. Gonna watch some movie or something now and hit the bed early so I'm fresh tomorow, mondays sort of suck at work If you're tired as fuck.

Friday pass

Today was the first time at work in a loooong time, 3 weeks :S. Was nice to see some colleagues and some I could've avoided for another 3 weeks. Anyhow, on my way home I bought a 1kg packet of salmon fillet and prepared it and washed it down with a protein shake. Afterwards it was time to hit the gym since I skipped yesterday because I was still sore as FUCK. So today was Squat, Calf raise, Mili press, Bench press and Curls(was supposed to be dips/pushups but since I apparently can't read I did curls.) and yes, I modified my routine a bit. It's as follows

Day A

Squat 3x6
Bench Press 3x6
Overhead Press 3x6
Pushups/dips 3x8
Standing calf raise 3xFailure

Day B

Deadlift 3x5
Barbell row 3x6
Pullups(weighted) 3x6
Barbell curls 3x8
Crunches(weighted) 3x10

Plan is to go 4 times a week, something along the lines of ABxAxBx.

So today most of the exercises were stuff I hadn't done since I started my break from gym a year ago. So I had try with low weights to see where I'm standing currently. Squat went surprisingly well, 3x6x80kg without any problems whatsoever. Milipress was decent as well I guess, 3x6x30kg without problems and curls 3x8x30kg without any problems as well. Standing calf raises I havent been doing previously and since you do it until failure, it's hard to say anything about that. Lastly I did bench which was a terrible mistake, should always do bench first or second. Anyhow, did only 3x6x40kg since I was exhausted as fuck at that point but it still went without problems, the biggest problem at this point was that my legs were cramping and spasming as hell :D Didn't really know how to lie down on the bench.

Anyhow, point of todays pass was mostly to just check where I stand form wise. Back home and another meal of salmon and protein!
